 Coach Built Motorhomes

mde

Fixing a drive-away to a coach built is usually not as simple as Midi sized van conversions. However there are some options available

1.

      1. Attach with straps fixed to the awning tunnel and taken over the roof of the vehicle and pegged to the ground. (Outdoor revolutions XL awnings come with 3 straps as standard.)

The straps can be noisy in windy conditions to help stop give the straps several turns or twists before pegging out. This helps stop the wind resonating the straps, which is the cause of the noise.

You can also modify this method if the vehicle has a roof rack and fix utilising the roof rack

2.     Use the pole and clamp method only substitute the clamps for 2 dent pullers (Available from car accessory stops). Only works if your vehicle has sufficient flat and shinny surface to allow the suction fixing of the dent pullers to fix securely.

There are 2 main methods to attach your freestanding awning to vehicles with wind out awnings.

1        Several models of wind out awning have an awning channel incorporated into the front   Rail. To attach your drive-away awning you will need an adaptor kador strip, as the awning channel in a wind out awnings tends to be of a smaller diameter than a normal awing channel.

Fix the other side of the kador strip to the awning using fig 8 strip/s to give drive-away capability.

2        Fix the driveway awning using the pole and clamp method resting the pole on top of the wind out awnings housing. Secure the poles in place with straps

Awnings most suited to Coach Builts are Kyhams Excelsior and Outdoor Revolutions Movelite XL and Navigator XL.
