Our Opinion:-

Redesigned model with the biggest change being the down grading of the fabric from 150d to 68d. This does not change how weatherproof the awning is but does help reduce the pack size and weight. An important consideration when storing your awning in a Van based conversion. It also makes the awing cheaper manufacturer and therefore gives a lower retail price.

With the success of the Cross Air it is nice to see a Tailgate version specifically designed to fit VW transporters, it will also suit similar sized van based conversions.

The Cross Air Pro is a dome style awning, giving more upright sides that a tunnel style awning and because of the dome design should provide a stronger awning is windy conditions. With the option to remove the side panels to fit optional 2 berth Inflatable AIR Annexes you can accommodate up to 4 people. The Cross Air features large windows with Mesh Panels and Privacy blinds. Like all Kampa driveaway-awnings the ground sheet is a simple clip in groundsheet. This gives the option to remove the ground-sheet for easier cleaning and is useful when used on hard standings or on Campsites that insist on Breathable ground-sheets. Although Kampa seem to think this is a big issue, our experience of selling Driveaway Awnings from every other manufacturer, which predominantly feature sewn-in ground-sheets suggest it not a problem on the vast majority of campsite, although we personally prefer a removable groundsheet as it allows for better air flow through the awning to reduce condensation and makes it easier to clean the groundsheet as you can simply remove it, pack it separately and wash it when you get home without having to unpack your awning.
